5 Minutes With The One Wall Street Team

One Wall Street, Awards for Excellence in Repositioning or Redevelopment Finalist

Harry Macklowe, Owner, Macklowe Properties

Who has had the greatest influence on your career and what was the best advice he or she gave you?

Julien Studley who owned the real estate brokerage company I worked for and Irwin Wolfson the builder and sponsor of the Pan Am building. They were the most influential persons in my career. The success of the Pan Am building and my small involvement in it exposed me to all the exciting aspects of our business. A crucible of learning and for me a great privilege.

As a ULI NY Awards nominee, what makes you most proud of your project?

The quality of our building the design, the materials used, and the restoration of this landmark is something we all are enormously proud of. The successful readaptation of a major landmark office building into a major residential landmark building has been challenging, stimulating, and resulted in a successful and unique residential tower.

What about New York inspires you?

New York City to me is unique and the most beautiful city in the world. The energy is abundant, the buildings are prolific, and the people that work and live here – it’s inspirational. There is no place as exciting and satisfying as New York City and that is what I find totally overwhelming.
