Many of us at Kimco have been fortunate enough to have our careers strongly influenced by Milton Cooper, Kimco’s co-founder. Milton is 93 years young and still remains active in Kimco’s day-to-day operations. Among the many mantras that he embraces, one of my personal favorites is, “done is better than perfect.” Sometimes in our quest to strike the ultimate deal, develop a flawless project, or protect against every liability, it’s easy to lose sight of the goal line. When complex obstacles appear in our path, this adage reminds us to prioritize our objectives and always keep our eyes on the prize.
The Boulevard project is a labor of love that Kimco has nurtured for several years. What began as a one-page, innovative sketch has transformed a once underutilized property into Staten Island’s most visited open-air shopping center. This success is attributable to the project team’s unwavering perseverance through countless hurdles, including developing through a pandemic. While the team may have naturally picked up some battle scars along the way, we have tremendous pride in ultimately delivering a game-changing retail experience to the Staten Island community.
